Prison and Jail Ministries

This exhibit highlights the diverse work of the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica in correctional facilities, beginning in 1968 in Lansing, Kansas. The Benedictine Sisters have a strong history of social justice and peace works within their various ministries, and their work in prisons and jails exemplify this. Since their introduction into prison and jail ministries in the late 1960s, the sisters have offered both education and spiritual guidance, expanding their reach to facilities across Kansas, Missouri, and even Mineiros, Brazil.
